Complete lack of confidence in Government review - Tas environmental groups

NOFF supports Tasmanian environmental groups' complete lack of confidence in Tasmanian Government review of Tasmania's industrial finfish farming industry.
In a letter to Premier Rockliffe, peak body TAMP said that the Liberal Government has almost completely ignored all 68 recommendations of the 2022 Legislative Council's Finfish Inquiry, and that we do not need another review or study.
The announcement of a pause on expansion and a study is nothing more than a political smokescreen, devoid of any meaningful commitments or intention to implement legislative change.
Industrial fish farms are destroying our marine ecosystems and inland waterways, pushing species towards extinction and creating an animal welfare nightmare.
Lack of a Social Licence to operate in our public waterways is reflected in increasing activism across the State, indicating a significant erosion of public trust and that the industry has failed to meet its social obligations.
TAMP calls on the Government to pre-empt the inevitable and remove all fish farms from Tasmania's waterways and Bass Strait.
